Whole House Window Fan

The past few years witness the continuous increase of energy. Given the recession, it is becoming an additional burden for families. It becomes a good alternative from an air conditioning unit that, as we all know, consumes a lot of electricity.

There are different kinds of whole house window fan with different prices. It can vary between $200 to over $1000, depending on the brand and type you go for. I do not suggest buying plastic ones because, well, it is plastic. That cannot be good for the environment. Go for the ones made up of steel. Not only is this friendlier to the environment, it is also cooler.

A whole house window fan pushes the warm indoor air out while it sucks in cool air from the outside. If you have an existing air conditioning system, you can use the whole house window fan to supplement it and cut down electricity consumption. Just switch the AC off when the air outside becomes cold, use the fan immediately. You will have the same cooling experience for less.

Doing this will also make you help the environment effortlessly. An air conditioning system uses 6000 or more watts of electricity per hour. The whole house window fan will only consume about 800 watts or less every hour.

There are negative things too with a whole house window fan, of course. One of which is the noise that it creates especially if the fan is in high speed. However, you may not be aware of it, the AC actually makes a lot of noise as well so these two are even on that aspect.

The whole house window fan will also not keep the humidity out. In the U.S., that is not a problem in many months but for countries that are humid, this may be something you really have to think about.
